Virtual Machine Introspection Enables Undetectable Cheats

Researchers have introduced a new type of game cheat, Virtual Machine Introspection Cheat (VIC), that takes advantage of virtual machines to stealthily execute game cheats. VIC employs a hypervisor with introspection enabled to bypass modern anti-cheat systems. Demonstrations show that VIC can implement cheats like radar, wall-hacks, and trigger-bots in popular games such as Fortnite and Team Fortress 2 without detection. This new paradigm could lead to the rise of cheating-as-a-service models, posing significant challenges for game developers and anti-cheat technologies.
